Frequently asked questions
What does a storekeeper do?
A storekeeper receives goods and checks them against the purchase order and delivery note, records them in the inventory system, stores them safely, issues them against approved requests, runs regular stock counts and reports shortages, damage and slow-moving items.
What is the difference between a storekeeper and a warehouse supervisor?
The storekeeper handles the stock and the records day to day. A warehouse supervisor manages the storekeepers and labourers, plans the space and the workload, and is accountable for the warehouse’s accuracy and safety.
Does a storekeeper need to operate a forklift?
Only in some warehouses. If the role includes it, say so and require the training and any certificate your safety rules call for. Otherwise leave it out, so you do not turn away capable applicants.
