Sick leave
Also known as: الإجازة المرضية · medical leave · sick pay
Sick leave is the right of a worker whose illness is proven by an approved medical certificate. Under Article 117 of the Saudi Labour Law, within one year, whether continuous or broken, the worker gets 30 days on full pay, then 60 days at three quarters of pay, then 30 days without pay.
What it means for HR
- Count days over twelve months per employee, not over the calendar year for everyone.
- Tie it to payroll: days at three quarters or without pay change that month’s net pay.
- Medical data is sensitive; limit who can see the certificate.
In RafiqHR
RafiqHR splits sick leave into the three pay tiers automatically, sends the reduced days to payroll, and hides the reason and report from anyone not entitled to see them.
