How to apply
[How to apply and the closing date]

How to adapt it

  1. Name the vehicle. A sedan, a light pickup, a staff bus and a heavy truck need different licence classes; check the class on Absher or with the traffic department before you set the requirement.
  2. Say what is transported: people, goods or documents, and whether the driver loads and unloads.
  3. Set the hours honestly. Early starts, split shifts and overtime should be clear in the advert and the contract.

What to avoid in a job ad

  • Requirements based on gender, age, nationality or religion. Describe the work, the vehicle and the licence, and let anyone who meets them apply.
  • Asking for a licence class the vehicle does not need, or leaving out the one it does.
  • Pay or overtime the offer will not match.

Frequently asked questions

What licence does a company driver need in Saudi Arabia?

A valid Saudi driving licence of the class that matches the vehicle and its use. The Traffic Law sets separate licence types, such as private, general (public), public works vehicles and motorcycle, and the General Directorate of Traffic treats driving with a licence that does not suit the vehicle’s size or use as a violation.

What are a driver’s main duties?

Driving staff, goods or documents safely and on time; checking the vehicle before each trip; arranging maintenance; keeping trip, fuel and delivery records; keeping the vehicle papers in the vehicle; and reporting accidents and faults straight away.

Who pays traffic fines incurred by a company driver?

Set the rule in the company’s written policy and explain it to the driver when hiring. Deductions from wages are limited by the Labour Law, so check that any deduction for a fine is allowed before you make it, and keep the vehicle’s registration and insurance current yourself.
