Saudi end-of-service calculator

An instant estimate under Articles 84 and 85 of the Saudi Labour Law. Enter the service dates, the last wage and the reason the employment ended.

The short answer

This end-of-service calculator estimates the award under Article 84 of the Saudi Labour Law: half a month’s last wage for each of the first five years and a full month for each year after, then applies the Article 85 resignation fractions of one third, two thirds or the full award. The result is an estimate, not legal advice.

An estimate only, not legal advice. Special terms in the contract or the work regulation, Article 80 and 87 cases, and amendments to the law can change the result.

The actual wage: basic plus allowances such as housing and transport (Article 2). Commissions may be excluded by agreement (Article 86).
Paid when employment ends at a day’s wage (wage ÷ 30), whatever the reason (Article 111).

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the end-of-service award?

Multiply half the last wage by the years of service up to five, and the full wage by each year after five, then add the two. On a resignation apply one third for consecutive service from 2 up to and including 5 years, two thirds above 5 and under 10, and the full award from 10.

What is the award after 7 years on 10,000 SAR?

If the employer ended the contract, 45,000 SAR: 25,000 for the first five years and 20,000 for the next two. If the employee resigned, two thirds, which is 30,000 SAR.

Does an employee who resigns before two years get anything?

No. Under Article 85 a resigning employee with less than two years of service receives no award, unless an Article 87 or 81 case applies.

Is this calculator legally exact?

It estimates the general rule in Articles 84 and 85. Contract terms, the work regulation or details of the wage can change the result, so check with a specialist before relying on it.
