UAE gratuity

Also known as: end-of-service gratuity UAE · مكافأة نهاية الخدمة الإمارات · gratuity

The short answer

UAE end-of-service gratuity is paid to a foreign full-time worker after a year of continuous service under Article 51 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021: 21 days’ basic wage for each of the first five years and 30 days for each year after, capped at two years’ wage, with no reduction on resignation.

How it differs from Saudi Arabia

  • The base is the basic wage in the UAE, the actual wage in Saudi Arabia.
  • Resignation does not reduce gratuity in the UAE; in Saudi Arabia Article 85 reduces the award.
  • UAE nationals receive end-of-service benefits under the pensions legislation, not Article 51.
