SANED

Also known as: ساند · Saudi unemployment insurance · unemployment insurance

The short answer

SANED is the unemployment insurance branch of Saudi social insurance. It covers Saudi employees only: 0.75% of the contributory wage is deducted from the employee and the employer pays another 0.75%. It pays a worker temporary compensation after losing a job for reasons outside their control, under set conditions.

How it works

The SANED contribution is calculated on the same wage as annuities and appears on the monthly GOSI invoice. It does not cover non-Saudi workers.

What it means for HR

  • On a Saudi employee’s payslip a 0.75% SANED deduction appears beside the annuity deduction.
  • The reason for leaving recorded with GOSI affects whether the worker can claim SANED, so record it accurately.

Work out the deduction with the GOSI calculator.
