Ramadan working hours
Also known as: ساعات العمل في رمضان · Ramadan hours · reduced hours in Ramadan
Under Article 98 of the Saudi Labour Law, working hours for Muslim workers are reduced during Ramadan to at most six hours a day and 36 hours a week, instead of eight hours and 48 hours for the rest of the year. Hours a Muslim worker does beyond that are overtime, paid under Article 107.
What it means for HR
- Update attendance schedules before the month starts, for Muslim workers only.
- The seventh hour for a Muslim worker in Ramadan is overtime, not part of the shift.
- Non-Muslim workers keep normal hours unless the establishment decides otherwise.
