Ramadan hours and overtime calculator

Work out overtime pay under Article 107 of the Saudi Labour Law, and what a Muslim employee is owed for Ramadan hours beyond the six-hour limit.

The short answer

Under Article 107 of the Saudi Labour Law, each overtime hour is paid at the hourly wage plus 50% of the basic hourly wage. It assumes the hourly wage is the monthly wage divided by 30 and by 8. In Ramadan, Muslim workers work at most six hours a day or 36 a week, and hours beyond that are overtime.

How it works and what it assumes

  • Article 107: each overtime hour is paid at the hourly wage plus 50% of the basic hourly wage.
  • The calculator assumes hourly wage = actual monthly wage ÷ 30 ÷ 8, and basic hourly wage = basic wage ÷ 30 ÷ 8. Your company may use another divisor set in the contract or work regulation.
  • Article 98: working hours are at most 8 a day or 48 a week, and in Ramadan at most 6 a day or 36 a week for Muslim workers.
  • Only hours above the daily limit are counted; the weekly limit and work on rest days and holidays are not modelled.
